Voluntary Contributions

The Contributory Pensions Act 1970 allows for individuals to pay contributions voluntarily for periods of unemployment.

Voluntary contributions are

  • subject to an application process;
  • must be paid prior to your 65th birthday
  • paid at the full weekly rate of the relevant year(s)

If you are interested in making Voluntary Contributions, you must apply to determine if this is an option for you. Click the link to get started.

The more contribution weeks put in, the higher your pension rate will be.

What you should know:

  • You can only pay 1 contribution for any contribution week
